West End Studio Tour 2012 Display

The exhibition is over for another year. For the benefit of those who didn’t attend here are a few pictures of my display. Instead of moving all of the furniture from my living room and dining room as was the case in previous years, this year I left the main furniture with a bit of rearranging and included two additional rooms. The net effect was a more open feeling and space for more pictures to hang than last time.

West End Studio Tour, YouTube Video – Rob Huntley featured artist

The West End Studio Tour (WEST) 2011 is over for this year but our hard working team keeps plugging away year-round to keep this annual event rolling along. Choleena DiTullio is diligently working on short video clips of each artist to add to the West End Studio Tour YouTube Channel.

It’s my turn to be the featured artist and here is the video with several of the images that were shown in my gallery during this year’s Studio Tour.

West End Studio Tour 2011 Concludes

The past two weekends have had my home open to visitors as part of the West End Studio Tour 2011 (WEST). This was my second year in the tour which consists of 20 artists (2 photographers) in their various galleries, studios and home settings. Good traffic, good conversation, good leads and good sales. Consequently I hope to participate again in September 2012.

For anyone who missed the Tour and is interested to see what they missed in my portion of the show, the images that I had framed on display are shown in the West End Studio Tour 2011 gallery on my website.

Photographers in the West End Studio Tour

The West End Studio Tour takes place on two weekends in September (Sept 18-19 and Sept 25-26), 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. This year is the first year in their fifteen year history that photographers have been included among the exhibiting artists. Myself and Paul Wing are the two photographers included in this year’s tour.

Although I’ve become recognized recently for my kite aerial photography, I will be exhibiting a cross-section of various types of photography ranging from landscapes to abstracts and from aerial vistas to macro close-ups much nearer to the ground. In addition, I selectively use post-processing techniques to give a painterly feel to a number of my images.

Displaying Photograph at WestFest

The annual celebration of WestFest in the Westboro community of Ottawa where I live takes place this weekend (June 11, 12 & 13, 2010). Among many other things, WestFest includes a small gallery with 1 art piece by each of the members of the West End Studio Tour (W.E.S.T.).

The West End Studio Tour takes place in September every year and promotes itself in advance during WestFest. Besides the gallery, there is a display tent to encourage art with children with face painting, caricature drawing and art trading cards.

This will be the first year that I will be participating as an artist in the tour. Thus I have place a piece in the WestFest Gallery located in the chapel of All Saints Anglican Church at 347 Richmond Road.

It is an overhead shot of beach and ocean with a couple walking beside their shadows. Playa Arena, Huatulco, Mexico. This picture was taken from a camera rig suspended below a kite (Kite Aerial Photography – KAP).
