KAP 2013-2 – Albert Park, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Albert Park and the Melbourne skyline. Melbourne, Australia.

A recent four week trip to Australia provided several opportunities for kite aerial photography. This first session was in Melbourne at Albert Park near the St. Kilda area of the city. I chose the location because it was near our hotel in St. Kilda and I anticipated skyline shots of the City of Melbourne with the large pond in the foreground. Unknown to me at the time is that fact that this park is periodically the site of Formula 1 racing, the Australian Grand Prix. Organizers were in the process of setting up the “Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit” and I was able to shoot some of the fixtures while I was there. Albert Park is also the site of several cricket pitches and soccer fields as well as a golf course.
