Over a 2 year period I was preparing a series of aerial images of Pinhey’s Point (near Ottawa) for an exhibit in the Pinhey’s Point museum last summer. One morning last spring I arrived and the wind was flat and the sky was overcast. I waited but a predicted change in weather didn’t happen. So much for believing the weather forecast. It was so still that the reflections in the Ottawa River were amazing. Fortunately I usually travel with both aerial gear and tripod gear so I switched mental gears. Seven of the images I took that morning were selected by Getty Images for exclusive licensing and they are now included in their catalogue. Here are a few of them.

Black Lake is near Perth in Eastern Ontario, about 1 hour from Ottawa. A group of fellow swimmers went for a late-in-the-year lake swim on October 20th, 2011. Fortunately it has been a long autumn and the water temperature was cold but forgiving. Not only that, it was a beautifully warm day above the surface so climbing out dripping wet was not the ordeal it might have been.
Later in the evening as we settled indoors for a meal and a beverage I had to dash back outside with my camera and tripod so as not to miss the magnificent sunset that was unfolding.

Well my blog has been idle for quite awhile. But I’ve been quite active taking photos. So in an effort to revitalize things here I’ve joined the project365 group on Flickr where you take a picture a day and you “try” to post there soon afterwards.
